Maidenhead Heritage Centre 03The history of Maidenhead stretches from before the Romans to racing cars, aeroplanes, Hammer Horror films and scandals at Cliveden. The town grew up when the first bridge was built across the Thames in 1250 and became a Victorian boom town when the Great Western Railway opened.

Maidenhead Heritage Centre is just the place to explore this amazingly varied history, with a permanent "Story of Maidenhead" exhibition supplemented by five free exhibitions a year in our Sammes Gallery. Join us in the school holidays for exciting family activities, and don't forget to stop by our gift shop for a range of Maidenhead gifts souvenirs, including the only local calendar.

On the first floor of the museum is Grandma Flew Spitfires, our Exhibition and Archive dedicated to Air Transport Auxiliary, with a state of the art Spitfire simulator - will you dare to fly with us? (admission charge applies).

The centre is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm. We strongly advise advance booking Simulator flights on 01628 780555.
